My name is Ryan, and I founded RySec to help bridge the gap in cybersecurity for businesses that often lack the resources to afford high-end penetration testing services.

My journey is a little unconventional. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology from William Penn University and went on to spend eight incredible years as a professional basketball player, competing internationally in countries across the globe. However, when I retired, I decided to pursue my true passion—technology—and trained intensively for 10 months to become an ethical hacker.

Living with ADHD shaped how I approach penetration testing. For me, testing is an open world—a space where my brain can freely explore, uncover vulnerabilities, and craft creative solutions. This perspective, which I view as my superpower, has been instrumental in my career.

My first role in cybersecurity was in England, where I began as an ethical hacker. Over time, I grew into leadership roles, including serving as a Manager and Senior Penetration Tester at one of the largest cyber insurance firms in the world. There, I had the privilege of building their first-ever penetration testing department from scratch. Today, I’m back in the U.S., living in Port Orchard, Washington, and working as a Senior AI Penetration Tester for one of the world’s most recognized companies. I am at the forefront of building their AI penetration testing department and leading innovation in this emerging field.
